Bloomingdale’s is synonymous for it’s high end trendy shopping, signature black-and-white decor, small and medium brown bag’s and loft style space’s filled with designers such as Burberry, Aqua, Theory,Tory Burch and Marc Jacobs. The real jewel however, is tucked away on the seventh floor!

I am referring to its classy, cafe style restaurant -40 Carrots

Why I love: Forty Carrots offers a delectable modern menu to refresh and re-invigorate Bloomingdale’s shoppers with new versions of its famous classics, using all organic and natural breads and rolls; and featuring daily specials including homemade soups, grilled chicken and fish, a delicious selection of freshly made salads, sandwiches, and their signature Bloomingdales Exclusive Frozen Yogurt 40 Carrots .

Be Good: The mango chicken salad, which is a mix of baby greens, mango slices, walnuts and sun-dried tomatoes topped with julienne grilled chicken breast, medallions of goat cheese and their mango dressing. Crisp and invigorating. The tartness of the mangos combined with the sweetness and sourness of the sun dried tomatoes were a perfect flavor compliment to the chicken. The dressing alone is absolutely refreshing

Be good and still indulge: As with any great recipe, the special formula for Bloomingdale’s yogurt hasn’t changed in the three decades since its launch. The original plain yogurt has a distinctive slightly tart, lemony taste. I can’t begin to explain how absolutely delicious it is but to say if you only go to Bloomingdales for one thing, dear god let it be for the yogurt! Toppings include raspberry sauce, walnuts/honey, and my ultimate favorite carob chips!

Searching for the perfect all-in-one skincare line can be rough on your wallet and your complexion. From overpriced creams that under deliver to the cheap drugstore brands that leave your skin feeling drier then the Mojave Desert, it can take several outings to your local beauty counter until you find your perfect match.

Over the past month I have been masking, gelling, drying, moisturizing, plumping, refining and well, you get the point, and I am happy to say that I have saved your skin and your bank account. I’ve tested several different lines and narrowed it down to that one miracle worker!

My top pick for the best all-in-one skincare line to date: Philosophy.

Step 1: Back to Basics – A good facial peel will revitalize the top layer of your outer beauty.

The Microdelivery Peel Kit- $65

Microdelivery Peel Kit not only exfoliates the skin, it delivers vitamin C and peptides to the skin. This completely new approach to skin rejuvenation resurfaces and replenishes the skin at the same time.

What else you need to know: The kit includes a 2oz The Microdelivery Peel, Lactic/Salicylic Activating Gel and a 2oz Vitamin C/Peptide Resurfacing Crystals.

This product works wonders on my skin that can tend to get dry from time to time. The crystals smell like oranges and the activation gel gives a nice warming effect once applied to the face.I use the Microdelivery Peel after a night out or if I have just come back from heavy travel and am in need of a deep cleanse. Wash with luke warm water to reveal a “just had a facial at the spa” look. Use one to two times per week or as needed.

Step 2: Nurture your skin- A miracle moisturizer in a jar that will have you glowing

Miracle Worker Moisturizer - $55

What I love about this product is its satiny texture. It glides on smoothly and instantly leaves my skin feeling hydrated. The best part: Unlike other moisturizers, Miracle does not leave my skin feeling sticky or oily.

As for amount, a little really does go along way when it comes to this divine skin intervention. A dime size is good enough to renew the entire face and leave you with a relaxed, refreshed and glowing complexion.

I began to see noticeable results after about one weeks of daily use.

Step 3: Have a daily ritual – A daily in house facial that will help restore your skin from the weekday grind!

The Great Mystery – $25

The Great Mystery was created to mimic an in-spa deep cleansing facial that provides you with skin-deep cleansing, exfoliation, and purification in record speed, without irritation.

I chose this over Philosophy’s Purity Made Simple only for the fact that my skin is prone to breakouts and this helps prevent that on a daily basis. As mentioned, my skin errs on the dry side; this is a wonderful daily treatment that gently exfoliates, ridding of dead cells and revealing fresh and glowing skin, without drying.

Curious to see what your product comb is? Take the Philosophy skin care quiz!

Whether you’re looking to jump-start your routine or jump on the bandwagon with other people looking to drop those last 15 pounds for the summer sun, one thing’s for certain – getting in shape is not easy and often times can be boring.

As I embarked on my own personal journey to a healthier lifestyle, the first thing I did was get to the store to purchase some new workout duds!

You are going to want to make a solid investment in getting good quality sports bras, pants and tops. During the changing seasons and the unpredictable weather, it is important to invest a light hoodie to wear if you plan to do a bit of outdoor running for your cardio intake.

After all, what’s the fun in slaving to get into shape if you can’t look treadmill-chic while doing it?

Here are my picks for the best athletic apparel stores

Lululemon Soho

481 Broadway

New York, NY

Online: Lululemon.com

Top ranked – Lululemon’s clothing breathes well, is light, stretchy, soft, and non-irritating to the skin. There are no annoying labels, and the seams are sewn on the outside of their clothing. The fit is like none other. I even wear them running errands or hanging out on weekends. The line is a bit on the expensive side, but it’s worth every penny! Quality and durability = priceless.

70th and Columbus

New York , NY

Online: Athleta.com

Athleta – Athleta offers stylish, well-made women’s athletic wear that lasts a long time, wears well, and is very comfortable. What I love most about the line is the selection of printed tops and bright colors!! They also have incredibly priced zip jackets!

Adidas [sport]

610 Broadway

New York, NY

Online: Stella for Adidas

Stella McCartney for Adidas- Time and time again, Stella has created nothing but chic style and sophistication on the runways. Now Stella brings that to her versatile active wear line. The line, pegged as performance sportswear, offers a variety of running, gym, yoga, dance, tennis, golf, swimwear, and accessories.

Side note- This line is not for the faint of bank accounts. Starting at $100 and going as high as $450. Start saving your pennies now! Or, you can shop it on sale. I bought a pair of running pants that were originally priced at $110 for $70.

I know, I know - I’ve been MIA for months. Things have been crazy B-a-n-a-n-a-s with a capitol B! A lot has happened in the past 3months and I’m bursting at the seams to tell you.

For starters, I met a boy. Yes, a real live boy! I know- I can’t believe it either! You’ll never guess where I met him- wait for it……. Match.com. After my whole tirade against dating sites and the importance of meeting people organically, I decided it was time to trade in my “firm” stance on online dating. I figured since I wasn’t meeting anyone organically, I had nothing to lose. After 3 months of ignoring everyone who reached out to me, I read his profile and knew he was different. I winked, he emailed and the rest is history!

He is amazing! He’s smart, funny, treats me well and is next level nerdy, which you all know for me is an essential because I too am a huge nerd, plus a side of sass of course, which he said is the one of most attractive things about me. (So cute!!)

He is in Digital Marketing on a very senior level for a pet company. Another plus since you all know how crazy I am about animals (have you seen my adorable City Girl Pups page on Pinterest? You will die of cuteness overload!!)

It’s been about 6 weeks since we’ve started dating and we aren’t sick of each other which is, for me anyway, huge!

I will keep you posted on our progress!

On the work front, it’s been nuts. In some ways good, in others, not so much. I was going to a lot of events, tastings, launch parties, working late nights/weekends, etc.; but I decided to put that all on the back burner to focus on my health and tend to my personal needs. I just began to feel burnt out, hence my “spell“ a few months ago. I know you can all relate!

I feel like I may have not recovered from that. As if it’s been lurking over my head, bringing its bad energy into my work space. A lot has been happening work related and I just need to find a way to accept things for what they are, figure it out, make a plan and make it work. Le sigh…

On another note, I was working on my physical and mental health. I was on an amazing kick for about 2 months. I was eating right, going to the beach 3 times a week for a walk/jog/run and I was getting in great shape too! I lose weight very easily, that’s never been the issue. It’s the keeping it off part that always does me in!

Unfortunately, my health, mental and otherwise, took a turn for the worse and I caught a nasty flu which caused me to be out of work for 10 days and physically down for over 2 weeks. Needless to say, I am not too happy with myself, eating and exercise wise, so I am making a plan to get myself back on track. After all, I have a personal goal of doing a 10 mile run by the end of the year and I WILL make that happen. I am going to start logging in that journey which I will set up this week on the blog. I have a feeling that has also been the reason for my horrible mood…

So, that’s what’s been happening, my loves. I have missed you all so much and until I began writing this blog, didn’t realize how much I missed writing as well!

I hope everyone has been doing well and is happy, healthy and most of all fa-bu-lous!

I will have some review of beauty products and a sweet pair of Reebok RealFlex Transition kicks I scored at last week’s Fitness Magazine & Fit Fluential event!

With love always!
Me

Who is city girl?

She is the life of every party. She is vibrant, happy-go-lucky and loves everyone she meets making instant BFF’s within minutes of saying hello to a perfect stranger. City girl is sweet, funny, outgoing and loud as can be. Everyone instantly loves city girl and admires her passion for life!

But who is city girl, really?
Deep down inside, away from the parties, the spotlight and the countless dinners out with the crowds, city girl has a secret- she suffers from depression. Crazy right?!?!

Let’s take the curtain down to revel the woman behind the blog.

Depression: It is not something us socialoggers (socialite bloggers) dare speak about. It’s always about the parties, who we are with, what we are wearing, where we are dining, shopping, red carpeting and so on. I don’t blame us. I mean, who wants to read about sadness?!? I know I sure as hell don’t.

The past few months I have been MIA. Depression is the culprit . Believe me, I have missed you all so much (and when I say all, I am speaking to my 6 loyal email subscribers, who by the way I love!)

So what happens? Well, that my dears, is the million-dollar question. For example, I’ll wake up on Tuesday feeling like a million dollars and then I’ll wake up on Wednesday not being able to get out of bed and just wanting to sleep for days. I can’t say what triggers it because I really don’t know. It just …. sucks. It’s lonely and feels like it will never end when I am going through it. If you’re reading this and deal with depression, I know you can relate.

As anyone who suffers from depression can tell you, the hardest part about dealing with this is to see yourself as the weaker version of who you normally are. For me, that’s a strong and vibrant person. It’s also hard to wake up and know that this weaker version of yourself staring back at you in the mirror is not the real you. Nevertheless, at that very moment this other version of you has all of the power.

In my early twenties is when it first happened. These “spells” as I have come to call them, used to last for 4-6 weeks at a time. Oh, it was horrible. Imagine, I’m 21, living “the life” in San Diego, tons of friends, an amazing spouse by my side and I wake up one day and couldn’t stop crying…for a month!

Fast-forward 8 years. I have learned to become very self-aware. I taught myself how to become aware of my surrounds, my stressors, moods, health and so on. Having spent many years working on this I have been able to get my depression somewhat under control. It comes and goes every few months and lasts just 1-2 weeks as opposed to coming every other month and last for a month at a time.

What am I doing to manage my depression? Prescriptions? Nope. Been there and although it helped get me through the first year, I knew I didn’t want to become dependent on medication for the rest of my life. It took a lot of personal strength and the support of my family and friends to get through the storm.

Instead I have started to workout again, drink lot of antioxidant tea, take vitamins and most importantly disconnect from things when I feel it’s needed. Lately, this has meant no parties, no events and yes, no writing. It’s really hard to step back from doing this that generally make me happy but sometimes you just need to take all of that energy and focus it inward.

So, this is what happened and why I had dropped off the face of the blogosphere for the past month. I am so happy to be out of my spell and back on my “Search for Never Never Land”. I guess a part of that search includes finding new ways to deal with my depression and learning how to weather the storm and still live my life.

Now that is one search that I am willing to continue!

Xoxo

Me

For the longest time, I prided myself in being “one of the guys”. I was always the girl who could gain secret entrance into the boy’s club. I like sports (to a degree), play video games (like I breath air!), trash talk with the best of ‘em, love movies where things blow up or people are “being taken care of” and can generally drink the boys under the table. This even holds true in work environments I have been in where the boys’ club was ever so dominant and I often found myself joining in conversation and being my ever so sassy self, maybe even a bit to the extreme.

I like to think of myself as Superwoman! A fearless female who is a natural born fighter never showing her vulnerable side. I dawn a red cape and have the letter S inscribed on my uniform . Combining charisma and character, and commanding respect while wearing my four-inch Charles David wedge boots. I can deflect bullshit off my magical bracelets; leap tall douche-bags in a single bound, and am professionally trained to never let guard my down! I am Superwoman after all.

Reality Check!

It was recently told to me by a guy friend that I “Don’t give people (men in particular) a shot, shutting them down (putting up a wall) before they even have a chance to show interest.” Seeking a second opinion on his assessment, I reached out to a few longtime male friends of mine in SoCal who not only concurred with his statement, but also added that I “Am too much like one of the guys and too often put up this hard girl exterior, scaring away potential partners”. Furthermore, I give off the “I don’t need you to do anything for me because I can take care of it myself” vibe. Yikes!

What I realized this past week is that instead of being “just one of the guys” I am really just full of shit! Well, to an extent.

I am not a man, nor would I want to be. I am not “one of the guys”, nor should I want to be viewed or thought of as such. To my detriment, now that I think about it, I was “fortunate enough” to have male friends throughout the years that never called me out on my “tough gal” act. Although, most recently it was brought to my attention that they have always been able to see through “me” or rather the “me” I was projecting out to the world. They just accepted that this was who I was and I would probably never change. Yikes again!

I like to project “I am unbreakable” persona. I have never liked to show my vulnerability and admit that I too am capable to being hurt or have weaknesses. Since my divorce 4 years ago, I have constructed an ever so airtight wall that guards not only my heart, but my entire being. I do hide parts of my personality because I fear judgment. I know I would feel uncomfortable letting most people see all of me. When I think about it, I guess I always viewed vulnerability as a sign of weakness.

For example, there is someone in my life who knows all of my buttons and pushes them constantly, calling me out left and right. I secretly hate/appreciate him for this, although it has been very hard to admit that his psychology bullshit was successful in figuring me out. How dare he see right through me! I mean, after all- I am Superwoman! Apparently, he did not receive the memo.

This brings me to my next topic:

Vulnerability

Vulnerability: The term refers to a person who lets their guard down, leaving themselves open to censure or criticism.

Emotional Vulnerability: Someone who is overly exposed to being hurt emotionally through others’ actions or words.

How do you know when it is OK to take down the walls? I think too often we are caught up in the vision of who we want people to believe we are when in reality they see through us anyway.

For me, after much internal dialogue, I found that this need to be a part of the boys club is my way of keeping them close while keeping them at a distance on an emotional level. Although, I must admit while it’s nice being an insider, I have to take a step back and ask the question “Why do I feel more comfortable being just one of the guys as opposed to being viewed as a potential partner?

The answer is simple: As a friend, you don’t run the risk of getting hurt the same way you would should you be in a potential “interest” situation. There are no expectations. As a friend, you can party and bullshit and not worry about all of the emotional stuff, hence there is no risk of being hurt or let down.

The challenge is learning to balance both, being “one of the guys” and allowing for an emotional connection. What is even more important is giving off that vibe that you can hang but are also down for game!

Vulnerability and being guarded is a part of human nature. We all have a wall up in some area of our life, something that we are scared of, insecure about, fearful of. It is learning how to deal with it and learning how to face these insecurities, being honest about them not only with others, but also with ourselves.

Being guarded is just another line of defense. It’s reactionary. We are all reactionary in life. Having a wall up is a reaction to a situation that hurt us in the past.

It comes down to being able to find that balance of knowing when to let your guard down , knowing when to take care of yourself and more importantly, knowing when you have way to many guy friends!

Hold onto your Atwoods kids, for I am about to take you to a land of percentage signs and numbers to the underground world that is known as APR.

For all of those non-shopaholic’s out there, or for those of you who are, but don’t pay attention to what that annoying little acronym means, here is your wake up call – APR stands for Annual Percentage Rates.

Over the years, I have prided myself on being the ultimate shopper.

Staying on top of latest trends, always first on line at sample sales, shopping at only the best of the best and most exclusive department stores and having established a personal shopper at each store with their first name and number proudly stored on my speed dial. In addition, I had acquired a make-up artist at each Dior and Chanel counter to call my very own! Of course, I must pay homage to the thing that helped me attain my star VIP shopper status, my little plastic friend: The coveted department store credit card!

My top shop spots with credit card to match:

Bloomingdales

Saks Fifth Avenue

NiemenMarcus

Barneys

Then the smaller still equally chic stores for the Jackie O in me:

J.Crew

Banana Republic

Nordstrom

As a proud swiping, multiple shopping bag enabling, “I bought the last one”- card holder, I, Shayna Macklin, at one point and time, took great pride in calling these places my second home, especially bloomies!!

Thousands of approvals later and I hit my first decline both on my credit cards and in my debt total. In a little over 2 years, I had racked $29,756. My Doo.Ri and House of Holland days came to a “credit card denied halt!

I officially had my “Confessions of a Shopaholic” moment and suddenly I became the person on the other end of the line making up lies as to why I couldn’t pay the balance. Soon after, I found myself screening every call that came in as to avoid having to tell yet another “my payment is in the mail” lie.

All of my impulse buys, my happiness of the moment purchases, my “look at me” carrying multiple “status symbol bags” from Niemen’s’ and Barneys had officially put a price tag on my value.

I had everything! The latest Gucci, the new Tory Burch wedges with silver emblem on the back, the just reduced from $2,705 to $1,894. What?! That’s a serious steal…….Don’t judge me! My Karl Donoghue jacket, Bloch ballerina flats, Pedro Garcia pumps , the list goes on and on ……and on. I let the clothes and labels define who I thought I was when really I should have been defining the clothes I was wearing, making them apart of my personality and my style, not the other way around!

I had developed a case of labelitis. A nasty little disease that affects millions of men, woman and credit scores each year! The cure- A slice of the plastic with the metal blades of death “aka” Scissors!

Not only was I shopping like I was a multi multi multi millionaire, but I was failing to pay attention to the APR’s I was paying on the total balance. After all, “I get paid next week and can make a small payment to carry me over until the next pay period which will then be a “balance due” again, but as long as I pay something above the minimum balance I will be covered. I am not late and not skipping payments just making what I can so I am covered”

After finally coming to terms with having labelitis, I was fortunate to receive help from my family to assist me in paying off a vast majority of my accrued debt. I am now under $5K in total credit card debt and am working of on paying it off each month.

Am I tempted? All of the time. Do I slip up? Yes, but soon after purchase you can bet your Bloch’s that I go right back to the store and return the purchase. Recently, I decided to give all of my cards to my parents to hold on to. My credit went from a 792 down to a 573. In paying off the credit cards and keeping them open to have the revolving credit, I have fixed my credit score. Not completely, but it has gone back up over 695.

Hers a little education on APR:

What exactly is APR?

APR or annual percentage rate is the amount you will pay in interest charges per year on a credit card.

If you do not pay your credit card bill in full each month, the APR can greatly affect how much money you give your credit card company for the short-term use of their money.

For example, say you have $1,000 charged on a credit card with minimum monthly payments of only $20. Sounds nice, right? You may think you can afford that payment each month, with little effect on your pocketbook. But let’s look closer and figure out what it really costs to pay only the monthly minimum.

With a 15 percent APR, and making only the minimum payments, it would take over six years to pay off your charges, and with an additional hit of $546.18 in interest over those years going to the company. Your $1,000 charge just turned into over $1,500. That $500 + could have been a Tory Burch bag if you had either paid off the balance in full or just used cash for your purchase.

To give you an idea of current APR’s, I have detailed a list of the cards (as mentioned above) with current APR.

Bloomingdales- 24.99% with late fee penalty of $35

J.Crew- 24.99%

Banana Republic – There are two types of Banana cards: the original Banana card and the Banana Republic Visa card. The Visa has better rates: 18.24% or 21.24%, depending on your credit. The standard Banana card has a rate of 23.99%. Penalty 27.24% APR on balances that are overdue

Saks Fifth Avenue – 23.99 APR. Penalty: as high as 26.99%

Niemen Marcus- 21.99%

Barneys – 18-21 %

Nordstrom- 10.90-22.90. Penalty as much as 27.40%

When it comes down to it, if you have to have the plastic, you can :purchase one thing at a time and wait to make another until you pay off the balance completely, purchase only what you know you can pay off in full that same month, or buy your luxury goods the old fashioned way: Save up for it!

Yesterday started out as a typical workday. I woke up, took a shower, had my morning Renovation Blueprint juice with a side order of double shot espresso from Starbucks (thank you coffee gods) and as usual, I was running 15 minutes behind schedule about to miss me 8:05am bus into the city.

As I sat in my car slowly creeping down the freeway towards the bus station listening to the vocal styling’s of Jessie J, my phone rang- it was my very bestest, Isabella.

She was having yet another relationship crisis. After talking for what seemed like hours, I was finally able to decode her dilemma: When to stay together vs. when to say good-bye, seemed to be the question at hand.

Isabelle had been dating her boyfriend Chris for roughly 3 years.

As a fairytale would play out, they met through a friend at a party one night, spent several weekends together and sooner rather than later, decided to move in together.

The first few years, like any relationship, had its transition phase while the fairy tale dust was settling.

They went through the usual stages: The combining of the friends and social events. His and her separate outings soon became their plans; his friends became her friends and visa-versa and eventually they settled into their newfound “togetherness”.

As they came upon their one-year mark, they decided to take the relationship to the next level and move in together. Enter the next chapter in their relationship- The combining of the personal belongs, purchasing of new “our” items such as furniture and the rearranging of their schedules so they could spend as much time together as possible .

Arriving into the third year of the relationship, things became routine for them. They just about scheduled everything-from spending time together, to cooking dinner, right down to the sex! Her planner was not nearly as full as his and for her it seemed like everything had to be “fit” or “squeezed” onto his blackberry calendar, including watching TV together.

To make matters worse, without even realizing it, somewhere in the middle their “new found togetherness”, her friends took a back seat to their relationship and she eventually alienated most of them in order to spend time with him. She had lost herself and became completely reliant on him for her happiness.

She went on to explain that the age of 30, she didn’t think her life would be this way. She always imagined that she would be married with children or at least engaged.

I, having heard this many times before, responded with the usual “Why are you still here with him? You obviously are not happy! It’s like you’re settling because it’s familiar and you are too comfortable.”

Isabelle argued, as most of us women who are in relationships that we are not yet ready to give up on would , that she invested so much time into him and she already had her future mapped out with him. She didn’t want to start over again. She didn’t want to take that chance and end up alone.

It was weird for me to hear her talking about being afraid to be alone. This was the first time she had said those words to me and I couldn’t make sense of it. The Isabella I knew was fearless. She had a great job in advertising in Soho, her own apartment, until they moved in together; an amazing network of friends, the list goes on. She was the Samantha Jones to my Carrie Bradshaw!

I began to wonder- With all of the Carrie Bradshaw and Samantha Jones’ running around the city, why is it that even the most self-proclaimed independent woman eventually loose themselves in their partners life.

Meaning, we, oh yes, yours truly is not ashamed to be include in this rant as I too am a repeat offender of a little thing I like to call “identity loss”. We forget about the lives we had pre-relationship and suddenly become ‘that” girl. The needy, insecure, “Let’s just stay together because I don’t want to be alone” damsel in distress girl!

Question- Why is it that even today, with the predominance woman have attained in the work force and their social lives, where so many woman I know have their own businesses and rent or even own their own home, do we feel incomplete without male companionship?

Moreover, if we do lose ourselves when we “fall in love” or are the “relationship of the moment”, how do we again find our independence?

Is there an 1-800 help line we can call or perhaps a GPS device we can harness to independence so that when it does go off into the wild we can track it down and bring it safely back home?

When is it time to say good-bye to the dead end relationship, become OK with being on our own and venture out into the world as a “one”, once again being an independent “Single Lady”?

Determined to reinvent what we think of as traditional desserts, Chef Ian Kitticha of Spot Dessert Bar creates a menu that fuses together the elements of Eastern/Western flavors resulting a creative and well-executed dessert spot offering.

The Menu

Green Tea Tiramisu

Why I love: The Green Tea Tiramisu topped with shaved matcha and white chocolate blend was beyond! It was soft, moist, and not overwhelmingly rich like traditional tiramisu. The sponge cake was lite and airy; the cream had a hint of sweetness, just enough to satisfy. The matcha powder left an ever so slight bitter aftertaste that was delightful. All of the elements in this dessert provided a perfect textural contrast that you would not have expected. As a whole, this earthy dish is undeniably refreshing, truly unique and unlike anything I have tatsed before.

Smoke Coconut Cheesecake with Oreo crumble crust

Why I love: Surprisingly understated, this modern twist on a traditional dessert and Spot Dessert Bar exclusive, pairs together coconut cheesecake, infused with a blend of 18 different Asian spices, topped with a cloud of passion fruit foam, white chocolate shavings all resting upon a toothsome oreo cookie crumble crust. It’s the perfect combination of sweetness, smokiness and tartness. Surrounded in blueberry compute, chunks of fresh coconut flesh marinated in simple syrup, chunks of mango and toasted coconut scattered upon a single scoop of vanilla ice cream, this dish was my favorite of the evening! Truly a unique tasting experience.

Red Velvet Macarons

Why I love: The Red Velvet Macarons were delicate and scrumptious. A wonderful crunch from the delicious light cocoa red shell on the outside, while chewy and smooth on the inside from the fluffy, marshmallow-like center filled with velvety cream cheese frosting. These are dangerous as they aren’t filling, so don’t be surprised if you find yourself inclined to indulge on more then two.

Thai Iced Tea with Boba

<del>Why I love:</del> Obsession Confession: The Thai Iced Tea was mind blowing! It was not overly sweet and had a great woodsy flavor. Normally not a fan of boba, I opted for it in my drink and glad I did. The boba had nice sweetness to it and great chewy texture. The boba was my favorite part of the drink! I would go back for the drink alone! This Thai iced tea was the perfect combination of tea, condensed milk and ice.

Verdict

Why I love: Aside from the yummy flavor and sweet lingering scent this lips scrub leaves, Sara Happ ultra-moisturizing scrub is a mini microdermabrasion treatment for your lips. A little amount will do wonders given the sugars gentle exfoliating granules which aid in repairing damaged lips by sloughing off the flaky skin that can build up during the fall and winter months due to unpredictable weather and of course, dried up lip-gloss.

After two uses, my lips felt a lot smoother, not to mention they also looked pinker and plumper which I didn’t expect.

Beauty Bliss Tip: Leave on for 2 minutes while in the shower and rinse off with warm water to lock in the moisture of the natural oils and petroleum from the balm into your lips for an all-day soft pout. Also works as a great primer before applying lip gloss.

The scrub comes in a variety of flavors such as, Almond Creme, Vanilla Bean, and my favorite, Brown Sugar.

Packaged in little jar, it’s the ideal on-the-go lip fix perfect to throw in your purse or your jacket pocket.
